Bangladesh now have something remarkable to cheer about. They’ve added yet another moment into their inventory to brag about.

Bangladesh scripted a beautiful run chase in their second test against the lankans in the 2 match test series. On a day 5 which has been almost difficult for the chasing teams since years irrespective of the soil, the Tigers held their nerve and achieved the target of 191 with four wickets in their hand.

Coming to the run chase, the Bangladeshi openers Sarkar and Tamim looked settled when they were going at a steady pace with 22-0 and then stuck the Lankan skipper by dismissing Soumya Sarkar and Imrul kayes in 2 successive deliveries.

With struggling Shabbir Rahman coming next and with 2 successive blows , bangladesh had their hopes down in winning the test match. And then came the 109 run partnership between Tamim and Shabbir which almost took away the game from Srilanka. Though the wickets started falling after that at regular intervals, the Bangladeshi skipper Rahim gradually took his team past the target. Tamim top scored in the second innings with 82 runs which won the match for the tigers. And not to forget Shabbir Rahman who’s been struggling  with his recent form in the longer format contributed with a valuable 41 with the bat.

Post the celebrations, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister congratulated the team over the phone as the capital Dhaka saw hundreds of fans marching through with flags in their hands.

The no.2 ranked test all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is awarded the man of the series for the 4th time in his career.
